Traveling by plane
Cascais is a large and accessible city that’s very close to the Lisbon airport. There are direct flights from NYC, SFO and other major airports via TAP Portugal and United. We’d recommend flying into Lisbon as it is closer than Porto or other Portuguese airports.
Guests can easily take a taxi or Uber from the airport directly to Cascais or Estoril, rather than renting a car. Ubers or taxis from Humberto Delgado airport in Lisbon to Cascais should cost around €35-50. You can also take the Metro from the Airport to the Cais do Sodré station in Lisbon, at which you’ll be able to catch the Linha de Cascais train directly to Cascais. If taking this route and using public transportation, the overall cost is more like €6.
The venue
Our wedding venue, Forte da Cruz, is a 17th century fortress overlooking the sea in Estoril, Portugal. Forte da Cruz is centrally located near many hotels and Airbnbs in Estoril and Cascais, which are neighboring cities. We recommend taking an Uber or arranging a taxi through your hotel, as there is no parking associated with the venue. Ubers are affordable and accessible in the area.
Forte da Cruz, R. Olivença 13, 2765-262 Estoril, Portugal.

Hotel Farol
Our favorite hotel in the area is this boutique 19th-century mansion turned art-hotel, perched on a cliff’s edge with a beautiful pool and bar area overlooking the water. It feels like stepping back into an old James Bond movie.
After booking, let the hotel know that you’d like to use code ZOEJOAO for 10% off your room rate.
Av. Rei Humberto II de Itália 7, 2750-800 Cascais, Portugal
(This hotel is roughly 10-15 minutes from the venue by car.)
Grande Real Villa Itália Hotel & Spa
We had quite the memorable stay here during last year’s blackout! Classic, old-school European with sweeping views and an incredible veranda bar. Located just across the street from our beloved Hotel Farol, this is also where our welcome party will be from 5-7PM on May 29th, the night before our wedding and reception.
R. Frei Nicolau de Oliveira 100, 2750-319 Cascais, Portugal
(This hotel is roughly 5-10 minutes from the venue by car.)
Casa Vela Hotel
A smaller, boutique guest house with colorful, comfortable rooms. Just as accessible as our other options and close to the heart of town.
Rua dos Bem Lembrados 17, Cascais, 2750 Portugal
(This hotel is roughly 5-10 minutes from the venue by car.)
Hotel Fortaleza do Guincho
Looking for something out of the center of town? This Relais & Chateaux-owned traditional hotel is at the top of a stunning cliff overlooking the sea. Walking through the lobby feels like stepping back in time! Please note if opting for this hotel that you will require a taxi, Uber or rental car to get into Cascais or to explore the area, as the hotel is perched on a cliff and is not within walking distance.
Estrada do Guincho 2413, 2750-642 Cascais, Portugal
(This hotel is roughly 20 minutes from the venue by car and roughly 7-15 minutes to the center of town by car.)
